Twas The Night Before Xmas

Twas the night before Christmas,
and all through the Craft Ale House,
all the customers were drinking,
but not to get soused.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
in hoped that there wouldn't soon be a fire scare.
And Dan was in the cooler all bundled in coats,
he was checking out the beer freshness, by pouring it down his throat.
Gary and Mellisa were dressed to the nines,
and hoping that St. Nick would be right on time.
When out in the lot we heard such a clatter,
we sprang from our bar seats to see what was the matter.
When what to my wandering eyes should appear,
but an SUV filled with Troegs gear.
With a young driver so lively and quick,
we knew in a moment it must be Saint Nick.
More rapid then the Eagles the beer courses they came,
and he whistled and shouted and called them by name.
"on 19, on 21 on 25 and 24, get into the cooler and lets start to pour!"
The scratch beers did as they were told,
as well as Hopback, Dreamweaver and the Mad Elfs of old.
With a wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
we knew right away our livers had plenty to dread.
He spoke hardly a word, but went straight to his work
and filled all the glasses with his fine firkin work.
He sprang to his bar seat and gave the help a whistle,
and they all came running like he was under some mistle.
But I heard him exclaim as we drank out of sight,
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!

Jolly Saint Nick And His Mad Elfs

Well, I'm not positive that Troegs right hand man Nick Johnson is a saint, but on December 23 at 6pm, you just might change your mind. Because you great folks have an Troegs itch and Nick and Gary got the beers to scratch it.
Troegs Yuletide (One On)
2009 Mad Elf
2008 Mad Elf
Hopback Amber Ale
Dreamweaver Wheat
Scratch 19--Imperial Oatmeal Stout
Scratch 21--Naked Elf
Scratch 24--Van De Horn
Scratch 25--Magical Mustache Rye on Cask!
And some all important pint glass giveaways while supplies last.

It looks like a right smart way to get into Christmas spirit. Because, (Here comes the bad news) The Olde Craft Ale House shall be closed Christmas Eve day and of course Christmas day. The Fry's are fried and need to go home and plug themselves into to a wall socket and recharge their batteries. So make sure you got those gift certificates and those big bottles of joy for all your loved ones before then. And if you are still good till the 29th, maybe the cooler monster will put something on special for you on the CAH one year Anniversary.

You've Come A Long Way Baby

A little over a year ago, this is what Ye Olde Craft Ale House looked liked. But those crazy Fry's had a vision. No, not the one where they get no sleep and see how deep into debt they can get. The one where they see all you nice fine folks sitting here and enjoying yourself over a great meal and a couple of brews. Why look at the bar, you can almost see Joel there with his laptop and Scott coming in with John and the rest of the crazy crew.

Who is that shady figure in the cooler I wonder?
There might have been 100 kinds of beer in the cooler a few weeks later and now we are busting at the seems.
So the question that is before the jury, what kind of fun should we have on the 1 year anniversary? Another day at the office? Mr. Gary picks out some fine stuff? Maybe I dig out some goodies? Or should we let the customers have a crack at it? I guess you will just have to stop on by to find out.

Better Late Than Never

You know it is really hard to type out stuff for this blog when I am locked inside a cooler box for so long. Every now and then Gary will bring me some pierogis to eat and 10 more cases of beer to squeeze in
somewhere. But I also get to try the bottles before I put them out, some may call it quality control, I just call it thirsty.

Anywho, a few weeks ago we had a little Ommegang beer and cheese event here. Our wonderful head chef took a ride to the cheese mecca called DiBrunos, and this is a little sample of what you got. It also sold out.

5 lovely beers were pouring and later on the much ballyhooed Adoration came flying out of the cooler in record pace. As in 11 bottles were drunk at the bar and tables during the course of the night.

Last but not least, Mr. Fry and Miss Megan (Ommegang rep),
all smiles after a hards day night. Thanks to all you fine folks who made it a great event!
